2025 Commencement - Student Accessibility Accommodations Request Form

This form is to accommodate the GRADUATING STUDENT ONLY. Do NOT submit this form for a family member or guest. Guests can review the Commencement Accessibility Information document for more information on parking, seating, and visual and hearing access. Graduates who need accommodations to participate in the May 3-4, 2025 ceremonies must complete this form by April 23 to confirm proper arrangements prior to your arrival.

The SNHU Arena is a wheelchair accessible venue and Communication Access (CART, ASL and FM System) will be available; a formal request is not necessary.

Southern New Hampshire University is committed to providing equal access for all graduates. Please be aware the arrival to the arena may require a walk to the graduate entrance unless arrangements can be made to be dropped off. The graduate entrance and the floor area where diplomas are received do not include any stairs to maneuver. A graduate may have to stand for a brief period of time while checking in at the Registration Table or waiting to be seated on the arena floor.

Key infomation

  • This form is NOT used to register for your ceremony.
  • This form is NOT to inquire about hotel or transportation accommodations.
  • The information shared is held securely and only shared, when necessary, with those involved in working the ceremony, such as the Accessibility Assistants and ushers
  • Graduates using mobility devices, such as wheelchairs or scooters, must bring their own equipment.
  • Once this form is received, an Accessibility Assistant Team Leader will contact you by email to discuss specific needs.
  • Please note the ceremony will include flashing lights, bright colors and loud, often sudden noises.
    • We would like you to be aware of times during the ceremony where loud noise, music and flashing lights may occur. Specifically, it is tradition for bagpipers to play at the beginning and end of the ceremony. Graduates or guests who prefer to be away from loud noise such as this have the option of using Party Suites A/B which is set aside as a sensory space to be use if a person would like to attend, but not be in the general seating of the arena during different aspects of the ceremony. Once the ceremony ends, all graduates march out of the arena and will encounter a very enthusiastic “SNHU Clap Line.” This is a time when SNHU staff gather to celebrate graduates as they exit the arena. It can be quite loud as staff will be hand clapping, using plastic clappers and cheering loudly. If you prefer to not experience the clap line, please seek the assistance of a staff member before the end of the ceremony.
